Nautilus NE 2000 Elliptical $2,350.00
by Mark Williams Date Added: Wednesday 17 March, 2010
Nautilus NE2000 Eliptical Trainer. I weigh 220 pounds, and try to work-out 3x a week. I have had nothing but problems with this machine. After about 2 years, the Drive Pulley Assembly sheered off at the \"robot weld.\" Nautilus will sell you the part, but will not provide a schematic. After trial and error, I figured it out on my own and finally got the wheel cable properly adjusted so it would work. (Don\'t forget the magnet on the wheel or else your electronics won\'t work). Less than 6 months later, the opposite side Crank Assembly \"robot weld\" failed. This time Nautilus was somewhat more sympathetic and provided a limited diagram of how it was assembled. I fixed that last weekend, rode the machine once, and this morning, the Drive Pulley Assembly (yah, the one I fixed initially) sheered off at the \"robot weld\" in the same spot as before. At this point, I\'m not sure if this machine is worth trying to fix. Nautilus customer service is user-friendly. They answer the phone, will accept digital photos to help identify the part they will sell you, and ship right away. But, they don\'t stand behind their product. This is either an inferior design, insufficient quality, or a lemon. In any case, they don\'t seem to care about doing anything but selling me more parts. The sad thing is that I love this machine\'s movement. I haven\'t used anything that comes close to it. Too bad Nautilus didn\'t build it to last or to be used by a person that actually works-out routinely.
